The Importance of Water

Your body needs water in order to perform; every system of the body requires water!  In fact about 60% of body weight is water.  How much water you should drink on a daily basis varies; the typical amount suggested is 6-8 glasses.  However, you may need to increase your intake based on activity level, caffeine intake and sodium intake.  Als,o if you are suffering from a cold or a fever, or if you are pregnant you would need to increase water intake.

One example of the need for water is our muscles.   Muscles really need water,as they are made up of about 75% of the clear stuff.  They act like sponges and without proper hydration they will lose their elasticity and the result will be spasms and tightness.  When this happens you cannot perform as well.  So drink water for your muscles!

Another example for the need of water is your joints.  Synovial fluid protects your joints, makes them lubricated and allows them to move with ease.  Again, without proper water intake the synovial fluid becomes low and the joints are not able to move as easily.

It’s not just muscles and joints that rely on water, it’s our whole body!  We need it to breathe, it moistens our nose and throat tissues.  It also flushes toxins out of vital organs and carries nutrients to cells.  The list for the need of water could go on and on.  If you are already getting an adequate intake of water, good for you keep at it!  If you aren’t well then I hope this helps you!  Treat your body today to a nice refreshing glass of H2O and repeat!  Here’s a tip too for enhancing the flavor of your water, in a pitcher of water add a few slices of cucumber it tastes so refreshing.  Just remember to drink it within a day or two otherwise the cucumbers can get kind of funky.  You can also do the same thing with lemons.  For further reading you may want to check out a book called “You’re Not Sick, You’re Thirsty” by F.     thank u very much for uploading such an informative stuff.infact i was not very much habbitual about the intake of water but after reading this i m very much motivated to make myself habbitual to take 6 or more glasses of water on daily basis. regaeds
