Take Aromatherapy Back to School!

22 Aug

It’s back to school time again. While you are shopping for the usual notebooks, binders, pencils and all those other necessary school supplies make sure to check your stock of essential oils too. After a summer off essential oils can be used to help you get back in the routine after those long summer nights and carefree times. Read on to learn how to use essential oils to get back into the rhythm of the school year. And if you are an older student or college bound these tips can work for you too!

Morning Mist Wake Up- Spray this in your room upon waking up to gather energy for your day.  Parents, if you wake your kids up in the morning spray this mist in the room to help get them out of bed.  This blend will help put that extra pep in your step.  But remember, you still need to eat breakfast!

10 drops grapefruit essential oil

10 drops lemon essential oil

4 drops peppermint essential oil

distilled water

Add the above oils to a 2 oz spritzer bottle with distilled water and spray in the room.  Shake before each use.

Sleep Sound Pillow Mist- Spray this wonderful mist on your pillow and in your room at bedtime for a nice calm sleep.  Ideally a nebulizer in the bedroom is best, that way you can get some shut-eye with the blend wafting throughout the room as you sleep.

14 drops lavender essential oil

4 drops Roman chamomile essential oil

6 drops mandarin essential oil

distilled water

Add the above essential oils to a 2 oz spritzer bottle with distilled water and spray on bed linens just before bed time.  Shake before each use.  Add half of the essential oils if using in a nebulizer.  Sleep tight!

Focus, Focus, Focus- Here’s a great blend for exam day or anytime you are studying and need to boost your concentration.  Breathe deep and go ace that exam!

5 drops rosemary essential oil

3 drops lemon essential oil

1 drop peppermint essential oil

3 drops cedarwood essential oil

Add the above essential oils to  a diffuser or nebulizer while studying.

Add a drop of each of the oils on a tissue to take with you on exam day.  Tissues make handy portable diffusers!

Stay Calm- Have first day jitters?  This blend is also great to use before a performance of any type whether it be public speaking, performance in a play or in the band or orchestra!  Whenever you need to calm down those nerves reach for this blend.

5 drops clary sage essential oil

7 drops patchouli essential oil

12 drops lavender essential oil

Use one drop of each on a tissue to take with you.  Or you can make either a spray mist by adding distilled water to the oils in a 2 oz spritzer bottle.  You can add the blend to a 2 oz bottle with almond oil and use as a calming body oil.  Your choice!

Diffuse the Germs Away- Diffuse this blend in the home.  This is great to use during flu and cold season.  Add the following blend to either a nebulizer or diffuser.

3 drops thyme essential oil

4 drops eucalyptus essential oil (10% off until the end of August!!)

5 drops clove bud essential oil

Spray the Germs Away- Make your own hand sanitizer with essential oils!  This  version is far better for you than the alcohol laden varieties out there.

3 drops thyme essential oil

21 drops lavender essential oil

6 drops tea tree essential oil

Add essential oils to a 2 oz spray bottle and fill with distilled water for a natural hand sanitizer on the go!  Shake before each use.

(If making this blend for children ages 6-12 years reduce essential oils by half.)

While it can be a challenge to get back in the school routine with the use of aromatherapy  the transition is more enjoyable.  Good luck everyone, study hard and have a great school year!
